would you go to ER?

posted 18th Nov
DS is puking up every bottle since last night. can keep a little bit of pedilyte down but no formula. slight fever.

CATCH is DS is about to undergo a heart cath for pulmonary stenosis, and may have pulmonary hypertension. also since his electrolytes are probably wonky from puking i worry about his potassium and calcium.

would you take to ER or not? he will be 1 on thanksgiving.

I would probably call his doctor first.

But I wouldn't go the ER anyway unless there's a limb missing.

Definitely take him to the ER..Bless his heart !! Yes, you should be concerned of the electrolytes and the potassium levels very crucial for heart rhythm and health.

Bahahaha, same.

I'd call a helpline if the doctor isn't around and see what they say.

Is he peeing?

I probably wouldn't take him to the ER just yet. Do you have an urgent care?

If he has diarrhea and is throwing up I would take him to the Urgent care for fear of dehydration.

He hasn't even been sick for 24 hours. I highly doubt his electrolytes are off. The body compensates for changes and unless he has kidney issues too I doubt you have anything to freak out about.

Babies get sick and while your son does have a pre existing condition I am sure you get worried. I'd say to educate yourself as much as you can in his condition and consult with his pediatrician. The ER is for emergencies.

we dont have any urgent cares ;( his cardiologist is out of town, called his pedi, and the pedi on call (not his) said that if i felt he needed to go to the er, to go.. what kind of answer is that?

They cannot tell you not to go because they annoy assess his condition and it could be a liability.

Is he on a special diet or medications for his kidneys?

yes i know, im a nurse as well, but they can give a little bit more insight as to if they think its necessary or not. like i said he has pulonary stenosis as well and possible pulmonary hypertension. his heart pressures are already abnormal.

right now we are just being monitored for kidneys. he has congenital hypothyroidism and possible digeorge (waiting on genetic testing to come back) but does suffer from hypocalcemia so is on calcium and vit D suppliments as well
