What did u do for ur 30th?
I got married at 22 and we have two babies under 20 months - i guess i have let good friends drift and i dont know many people.
therefore hiring a hall/big night out is not really feasible as i dont even know enough people who will show up....which case, with a limited budget- any suggestions on a low cost memorable evening/day?
it falls on a friday next yr

I would just do a nice dinner and go get my hair done lol.
But my kids won't be very young when I turn 30 so it'd be less difficult tto go do something I suppose

I was pregnant and didn't feel like doing much. So we had a nice family dinner, and I got a mani pedi.

Nothing. And we did nothing for DH's as well. Oh wait, I think we went out to dinner. No cake, no presents.

Who cares what everyone else does. It's your life and bday. Spend it how u want to spend it. I don't make my life expectations based off of what others do.

I just don't think 30s that big of a deal and don understand why people go all out. It's not like turning 18 (when you become a legal adult) or 21 (when you can legally drink).
I'll be 32 in 10 days and if I'm lucky, I'll get taken out to dinner.

Charlie waffles...thats sad. So ur birthday is like any other day? I would be devastated if no one remembered my birthday, esp my family.
In my family we do make a deal out of birthdays......i guess its an excuse to celebrate/have something to look fwd to.
30s is a big deal....its a new phase of life and every year u r alive is lucky. I just want to do something amazing that I will remember and will cherish.....my 21st was wonderful, my 18th not so much so.

I don't like people making a big deal out of me, never have. My team always does a potluck and cake for everyone's birthday but that's about it. Money's better spent on bills or necessities.
People call and wish me happy birthday which is fine, but if that's the only day they're thinking about me, I'd honestly rather them not bother.
Yes, I know I'm a killjoy about birthdays. I try to do special things randomly. Unfortunately my kids are now old enough that they want birthday parties so I'm having to set aside my feelings and have parties for them. I hate wasting my money on parties people don't come to tho.

why dont people come???
i guess we come from a long line of birthday celebrations, my dad always took my mum out on her birthday and my hubby always makes a big deal out of mine- and vice versa. Its not like a two week binge or anything, more like an evening out or a trip to the theatre/somewhere the other person likes to go.
Its like a special event we save up for and look fwd to....i guess in hindsight, it doesnt matetr what u do for ur birthday, its spending time with people that counts that matters
