Bubble baths after delivery

posted 18th Nov
DH got me a lush bubble bar at the tail end of my pregnancy and I never got a chance to use it. How long after delivery do you have to wait in order to take a bubble bath?

I'd assume it's fine to take one right after. It's just water and soapy stuff

I would hold off, personally. I wouldn't want any soap getting up in the uterus where there's a giant wound trying to heal.

But that's just my opinion on it.. nothing really backing it up. Aside from being grossed out by the thought.

The medical consensus is usually to refrain from tub baths for 6 weeks after delivery. I just got the okay on Friday myself.

Basically, they don't want water and soap (and whatever else might be in the tub, you never know) to get up inside your uterus where there's a huge open wound where the placenta detached. Until that's healed, I wouldn't take a bath.
