Does your child have this toy?

DS will be four in Jan but he doesn't know his letters...at all and his numbers are jumbled. When he counts my fingers he says "1...2...5..6..7.." He knows what the numbers are but he doesn't know the order. The highest he can physically count ( like cars that he's playing with ) is two.

This toy looks awesome for that but he says it only goes up to 36 months. Do you think he would get bored with it?

Your time and effort will work better than any toy to teach him. Repetitive games, work numbers and letters in to everything.

We do that, at home and at school. He is just having problems.

I just got that for my one year old's birthday. I wouldn't get it for a four year old.

H, the best thing I did for E learning his numbers was to get 10 small objects and teach him to count while looking at them. We used those really big legos lol. Having the physical example in front of him made a big difference. He went from barely being able to count to ten to being able to do basic addition and subtraction. I was actually really surprised at how fast he picked it up. If you don't have legos, use blocks or hot wheels or something.

Flash cards, Songs and counting games help for all of that. My daughter is almost 3 and can count to 20. She knows all of her ABCs and can read them. She learned by me singing the songs to her, and showing her what they looked like while singing. She can't read numbers as well, but is getting there. Its all about being repetitive. Also, (as much as this show annoys me), Super Why is really great for learning that stuff.

Workbooks should be better then that toy. IO just bought this for my 9.5 month old for Christmas. lol

Just working with lo's and writting them down, flashcards and stuff like that work better.

Play cards. When my oldest had a bit of a hard time remebering order of numbers at 3ish years old, we taught her how to play solitar (sp?) lol with cards, she picked it up in minutes. And at 10 years old now she is always playing it now. lol
