Happy with him but not me? :(

posted 18th Nov
LO is 3 and a half months now, he sleeps every night from 9pm till 8am and has a couple of hours sleep in the afternoon. We're into a set routine now. So I really shouldn't complain. But as LO starts to get tired he gets really grouchy and cries for the sake of it, if I try to calm him down he just gets even more grouchy and just screams at me. Then when I get frustrated that I cant calm him down, my partner takes him and he settles, smiling away and giggling :| We don't treat him differently from each other, I try do the things my partner does because he's been through all this before with his previous 2 kids and LO is my first... I know it shouldn't, and I know I shouldn't complain but it makes me feel bad that I can't settle my own wee boy :/

He probably picks up on your frustration. Also your SO would be a new face for him to look at versus your own. Often our daughter will giggle when she is passed on to a new person after being upset in my arms.

My daughter is the same with my spouse..
do you get frustrated?
My spouse can calm her down a lot better then I can....
I think it's because hes a very patient person and baby's can sense that.

Yeah I get frustrated and I try not to show it but he probably does pick up on it... It just upsets me that I can;t settle him but my partner can... 10 mins ago LO was screaming in my face... Now he's having a powernap on daddies chest lol he's definitely a daddies boy.. Which kinda upsets me too, my partner already has two kids that dote on him.. I wanted to be a bit selfish and have LO a mummys boy

My son does the same thing. I think it is because my husband is stay at home dad so LO is more comfortable with him. But on my days off he's a momma's boy

He loves you too, he just picks up the frustration. Also seeing a new face is exciting. Don't let it bother you he is your son too.

Yeah they can defiantly sense it, I try very hard not to let it show, especially at bed time when I get the most frustrated because she is soooo cranky and very hard to get down...
But he can just rock her and she will settle.. not me though. It is frustrating...but just be thankful you have such a good daddy

Both myself and my partner are stay at home so LO gets and equal amount of each of us. LO is a brilliant baby, its just when he gets tired. But hey, I am thankful my partner can get him to nod off cos if he wasn't I'd have pulled my hair out by now  ___Thanks ladies x
