ok, would you be pissed off if you got blamed on the daily for not waking up your SO/DH?

let me set the scene here. you work, you get up around 6:30 am everyday, and you try to leave by 7:30 or 7:45. he works, but his schedule varies. even so, he sets alarms that go off around 7 am or 7:30, and earlier if he is supposed to be up earlier. he will sometimes tell you he needs to be up at a certain time, but he doesn't always notify you. ON TOP OF THIS, he is impossible to wake up in the morning. none of his alarms wake him (one being the huge screen tv coming on and blaring at full volume, another being a truck driver alarm thing that sounds high pitched and like a smoke detector going off), and even you poking him, slapping him on the arm or leg and saying "wake up" rarely wakes him. however, he does "act" awake at times and tells you to leave him alone or says he doesn't need to be up.... this happens on weekends too, and you like to sleep in on weekends because you get up early every other day of the week.

so.... would you be mad when he is upset at YOU for not waking him?

Yes. Adults should be able to find a way to wake themselves up if they need to get up. Not get pissed off that someone didn't do it for 'em.

He's a grown man who needs to take responsibility for getting himself up in the morning. My DH sometimes needs to be up extra early too, and sometimes doesn't wake up to the alarm right away, so I'll say something. But I won't make t my duty to make sure he gets up. No way!

We are kind of in the opposite situation. DH goes to work and I have been mad at him before for not setting our 1 alarm clock for me because I've missed appointments. However, the only reason is because I will make a big deal and send him reminders to set it. If I don't remind him, that's my fault.

Also if I don't get up with the alarms I have, that's still my fault. I know I have a problem waking up and have to adjust for that.

OP, ever thought about getting a vibrating bed alarm? Or hard of hearing alarms. DH is Deaf and his alarms always wake me.

where do you find hard of hearing alarms? are they expensive? the one he has now is called a"'screaming meanie". it's high pitched, sounds like a smoke detector going off, and he said they are made for truck drivers. the alarm he used to have was an old school fire bell looking thing that he had rigged up to a timer plus a big spotlight. that one worked sometimes. if i try to wake him, it seriously takes me hours to get him to where he really knows what's going on.

and here's the thing that pisses me off so bad... sometimes his friend comes over in the morning to go to work with him (he just helps out occasionally, but doesn't really WORK there), and all his friend does is knock on our bedroom door and say "wake up, buddy" in a normal voice and he is completely 100% alert. it makes me want to scream.

today his alarm went off at 8 am. his daughter had already woken me up at 7 am and i told her to go back to bed. so, at 8 am when the alarm went off, i said, 'shut that thing off or i am throwing it out the window!' he got up and shut it off. at 9 am his daughter woke me up again. i told her t go visit her grandma because that's what she wanted to do. (they live on the other side of the house and so there's an inside stairway she can take there.) i got him as awake as i thought he needed to be to tell him it was 9, and to ask him if he needed to be up for anything. he said, "i don't need to be awake for anything" so i went back to sleep. at noon, he got up and was like, 'well, thanks for making me turn my alarm off.... i needed to be up and it was important.' i was like, "alfldjhlkdgdhkhaskldg@@@##!##! because i smurfing woke you up and asked you and you told me no. wtf am i supposed to do if you say you don't need to be up, and you hadn't told me the night before when you were actually coherent??!!" he said, "well, if you hear an alarm, just assume i have to be awake." i hear alarms every damned day!! uuuugrrrrrgggggh. not to mention that i wake up when his kid wakes me up. she should wake HIM up, not me.
