Gagging?

Zion is 3 days old and will gag in his sleep and turn red. It scares the hell out of me because he just did it 3 times in 30 minutes. We had him in the car seat, then I picked him up after he gagged, then he gagged again about 5 n minutes later, dh takes him and he gagged again. It stops when he is on your shoulder and are patting him like your burping him. No spit up yet but I'm wondering if it's a normal thing or not? Going to call his pedi after they get back from lunch

Could be acid refulx, i know that's a symptom

It could be mucous left over from birth? DS (almost 6 months now) did that kind of thing when he was a nb. My midwife said it was because he came out so fast and didn't get all the amniotic fluid squeezed out of him.
