re: What does your DH/SO do..

he installs surveillance cameras. IF he comes home after work, he usually just comes in and eats something and leaves again. i don't ever really know if he is still working or just hanging out at the bar with friends (because he does that a lot). so.... i guess my answer is no. i do not expect him to do anything when he comes home, seeing that i do not usually expect him to even come home. when he does get home, it's late and i am sleeping. i know because i wake up when he comes to bed, and then i can't get back to sleep because he is out and snoring in about 2 minutes of hitting the pillow....
but i will add that the child i have all day is mine and not his. the one i am pregnant with is his, so i will expect him to be home more when this baby comes. i already feel crappy that he's not here for me now, but... whatever.
ETA: i also work. i work at my daughter's school, and i take care of her afterward.

I leave for work at 6 am and get home around 5 pm. I cook dinner and vacuum, sweep, and mop, and do the dishes after dinner. And laundry as needed.
He leaves to take my daughter to school around 8, then picks up the house and plays video games until he leaves for work at 11. He gets home at 6:30, we eat and watch TV or a movie, put Ev to bed, then pay video games together. He goes back to work at 8 until 10:30.
He works 10hr days for 12 days straight. I still expect help. I work 9 hr days 5 days a week, I do slightly more household chores. It's fair.

My husband works 4:00 to 3:30 am mon through thur. he comes home, played halo 4 until my son and I wake up, then goes to sleep. On the weekends he helps out, but not during the week.

My husband runs/partially owns a local restaurant/bar and does it all. He work 12 to 16 hours a day 6 1/2 days a week, and is trying to open a new restaurant on his own. The day off he has, he usually works about 8 hours.
I also work full time.
When he is home he helps do whatever he can to make my world easier. Including spending quality time with our kids. He will come home some afternoons to play with the kids for an hour, only to tack on an extra hour at night so he can spend time with them.
Any man that complains or doesn't man up really looks smurffy next to my husband. But he is a machine and hard to live up to.

DH works 12-16 hours a day 5-7 days a week at a factory that makes Subaru car parts. When he has a weekend off, it's either a drill weekend or he's at his dad's helping him with home dialysis.
When he's home with us, he'll play one of his video games once in a while, or he'll watch an episode of a show he likes. He's a great father and literally takes care of them (and the house) almost the entire time he's home since I'm supposed to be on strict bed rest.
He doesn't get much or any time to himself, so I don't complain if he wants to spend one of his evenings playing Skyrim. He's my rock

My husband is in the USMC, he works roughly 10-11 hours a day when hes not on leave before and after a deployment. If hes home, 5 months out of the year hes gone for 1-3 weeks of the month training and then 8 months hes deployed.
He doesnt expect anything of me but I try to keep the house clean so he has a nice place to want to come home to. But he still does roughly 30% of the household chores and about 25% of the cooking. He realizes that my "job" is taking care of a special needs child and a high needs infant so I need help. I'm grateful he recognizes that.

My dh works part time/oncall as a mail carrier. hours depend.
when he gets home I don't expect anything of him. He plays with our daughter, asks me if I need a nap or a hot bath and then plays video games and or takes a nap. On his days off he will help me with whatever I ask.

Quoting Suckafish:" DH is in the army as an informational technology specialist...aka a computer tech. He comes home and ... [snip!] ... Mon-Fri if I have time. Its just us and the dogs, not much to keep up with. I work 30 hours a week and am in school full time."

he works 65-70 hours a week.
When he gets home he plays with DD while I finish dinner, after dinner if there are things to do, we work on them, he does bath and bedtime.
I don't expect him to do anything, he enjoys spending time with his daughter and helping.

My husband works for a bentonite company. He was just promoted so will be working 10-12 hour shifts. He works different shifts so it just depends on what his shift is on what he gets paid. And that also depends on if I expect him to help out when he is home. If he works the day or swing shift yes I expect him to help out. He is still a father and husband, just because he works outside of the home does not mean he is exempt from his first calling and priority. That doesnt mean I expect him to come home and clean house or anything like that, but once he is home and has showered and rested for a bit, he still has to do his share within the home. Its not like I get to not not do anything ever so neither does he, thats what you get when you sign up to be a family. Working outside of the home doesnt make you any more special or more deserving of siting on your ass lol. And he knows this.

Quoting May ♥:" Really? Thats what my SO want to do is be a firefighter. I thought they were gone all the time, sleeping at the Fire Dept and stuff."
he absolutely LOVES it. when he was just a firefighter he worked a LOT, like 90 hours a week. took every single overtime and detail that came his way.
then he became a lieutenant, he worked a lot. but they only get 8 overtimes per year, and some details.
now he's a captain, sitting pretty, making $$$$$ and working just 40 hours a week. two 24 hour shifts in 8 days = 40 hours a week

He works about 20 hours a week at Red Lobster and is a full time student. When he gets home, we usually watch TV, do some online gaming, cook. We each have our own things we do - I'm in charge of dishes and the living room and he takes care of the laundry and bathroom, the kids rooms. He always does the trash because we have to drive it to the dump and I can't lift the full trash cans.
I only work 25 hours a week right now even though I am considered and paid as a full time employee.
