would it be rude

DS's birthday is on the 23rd December and a couple of people have asked me what they should get him for his birthday and Christmas, it has been suggested we ask for clothes or money for his birthday and toys or money for Christmas, so my question is would it be rude if we put a request on facebook saying "if you would like to get Hayden for Christmas and/or his birthday can you please get him clothes or money for his birthday and toys or money for Christmas".

I think it sounds kind of rude.

I don't think it's rude, but kind of tacky.

I would say gift cards instead of money

I think it's rude and tacky to ask for anything unless your talking to the person asking. I would not post that.

I just take what people give us. Typically u can tell where it's from and return it ad get the $ on a gift card. Otherwise we donate stuff we don't need or regift it.

thank you, i totally agree, i just wanted to make sure it wasnt just me who thought it, i do not expect anything for my children, its just so many people are asking i was getting annoyed with repeating myself so i was looking for something easy way around it lol

i only say money as i bank it for him, the bank doesnt accept gift cards  

Maybe say "If you'd like to know what to get Hayden for his bday/christmas please PM me"

that way you're not putting it out there.
