4 yr old persistant cough
posted 18th Nov
DS is 4 years old, and has developed a cough.
It's really deep and wet sounding, and has been persisting for over 2 weeks.
After week #1 I took him to his doctor, and the doc asked if it the cough was waking him up at night. I said no.
So the doc said it sounded like fall allergies, and just to continue giving my son his daily allergy medicine until winter.
I called again after another week, and he said the same thing. If it's not waking him up, don't worry about it.
Well today DS keeps telling me his "breathe isn't working." And he's not feeling okay. So I called again... still insisting it's allergies.
Should I not be worried about this? I feel like he should at least have his lungs checked out again. It doesn't seem right for DS to be saying he can't breath right because of allergies, right?

I would take him to another doctor or urgent care.

My son gets like that with fall allergies, to the point he wheezes, cant breathe and it scares me. His doctor finally gave him a inhaler and it helped a lot.

there anyway you can make him an appoitment and ask for a different doctor because if your pedi is just saying its fall allergies and not seeing him, shes not really seeing how he is IMO
My daughter had a cough like that and she couldnt breath, she was breathing heavily and wheezing, whistle sound to her breathing. Took her in Fri and by Sun, only 2days later, she had pnemonia
I would take him in, hes having trouble breathing and they may give you albuterol, thats what Lo has right now
Hope he starts to feel better
