I can possibly go back home for thanksgiving, but it would just be LO and I. DH has to work all weekend. I have Thursday through Monday off. Would anyone else do this to spend thanksgiving with their family? All we're doing here is going to Furr's Buffet with MIL/FIL   And then DH has to work all weekend so I'ts just LO and I home alone, like always. The drive is 12 hrs normally, but with stops with LO it's more like 15 hrs. I should note, I've been really homesick lately.

If possible I would leave at a time when he'd sleep for a while. Take lots of breaks. I think it's be worth it!

I don't see why not. Just bring lots of things to keep him busy.
My aunt and uncle started taking my cousin to Minnesota for vacation[16 hour drive] when he was around 2.
Just bring lots of toys, a coloring book and lap tray, etc.

Well depends how your LO does in the car. My son would be miserable, or sleep through a lot of it and then be all messed up with his sleeping schedule. (And its hard to get him back to normal, he fights sleep like crazy!) So I don't think I would.

I get off work Wednesday about 5 pm. So I could leave that night and possibly find a hotel half way and sleep for like 6 hrs. Who knows if LO would actually fall asleep in the hotel room though.

He's perfect in the car but the most we've ever driven is 3 hrs....

Could you possibly take a bus? I would probably do it, but I would try to do it when he will be sleeping at least for a good chunk of time.

We drove from north Carolina to Colorado for two days with a 2 yr old and new born. Wasn't fun but we were moving so had to be done. We started driving at night which helped a lot. Made the trip in 3 days. 15 hrs might not be too bad if you drive at night. Worked for us lol

Go for it! I have only done 8 hr trips but the kids do well as long as there is snacks and coloring. One yr we bought DVD player for the car- helped a ton! 3 movies and we were almost there

I wouldn't take a bus. It's either drive or spend $500+ on plane tickets, or not go at all.

It's about a 10 hr drive for me to go back home. Heathen is 4. We've made the trip 4 times already this year (going up and coming back) and will do it again for Christmas.
I keep books and small toys in the car to keep her occupied. I have snacks and water. We drive 4.5 hours, make a stop to potty, eat, and gas up and then we finish the drive.
She's really good about it.
