Sinus infections and pregnancy

posted 18th Nov
How do you know you have a sinus infection? and will they give you anything for it? or would it be healier to wait it out and let it clear on its own?

I have one right now, though not really bad yet - I talked to my pharmacist yesterday and he said I could take certain cold medicines, he gave me a list - you should call your OB or your pharmacist and ask. There are other ways to help with congestion and such, though - like steaming in a hot shower and vapor rub. Good luck!

You're due on DD's birthday!

Oh, and also, one way to tell is by snot color (eew). If it's bright yellow or green (or brown, etc) then it indicates infection. If it's clear, or whitish it's usually not.

No idea if they'll give you antibiotics, but my mom swears by those Neti pot things. Just be sure to use distilled water & follow the directions or they can be unsafe.

My snot is DEF bright green and thick and hard to blow out because its sitting in the way back of my nose. Nothing else is bothering me though, yet anyways. I have been just blowing it all out. Ill talk to me OB. Thanks girls!

They don't sell neti pots where we are stationed, but I heard mixed stories about it. Some people say to buy the saline solution, not just distilled and never use tap.

What works for me are those face warmer things, even more water for drinking, mucinex for chest congestion from all the runniness and tea bags on the eyes.
