Bleeding almost 39 weeks
posted 18th Nov
Well I was in L&D tonight from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm with strong and regular contractions. I was checked three times for dilation and I managed to dilate about a finger tip(I was completely closed when I got there) so they sent me home.
I know when you get checked you can have bleeding and I didn't have any the few times I went to the bathroom before bed. Well I just woke up, it's 4 am, and wiped and my toilet paper was covered in mucus plug and red blood...not pink, red. Which I know the nurse told me was something to worry about. I wiped again, still a ton of mucus and red blood. I called L&D and she said put a pad on and if it shows up on the pad then head in.
What could this blood mean??

I think they mean you should worry if you start bleeding like a period. But congratulations, sounds like baby is coming.

I've only been up for about 10 minutes but I've had a couple contractions so far, il start timing them.

Usually the plug is normal, but when there's blood that means there's usually progress.
They like you to come in when you cant walk or breathe through contractions, you strongly feel its time, or you're following the 5-1-1 rule. Every 5 minutes having a 1 minute contraction for an hour. Some women never get regular, so I would shower, eat a good meal, and pack.

I'm all packed and everything is in the car I did that earlier when I went into L&D just in case. I'll just walk around and see if they start to get consistent. I'm 40-45 minutes from my hospital so I'm completely unsure when I should start heading in. I don't want to drive all that way again and be sent home lol.

Well shower, eat real good. Walk some. If they get stronger, closer, more regular, or have been regular since you got up, or bleeding continues/water breaks head on in. I would definitely eat good, cause once you're there you can't. Enjoy a big yummy breakfast! I'm pretty excited for you. Update in here.

I wouldn't wait tile they are too strong, since you're further away.

I lived 45 minutes away from my hospital with my first since I lived so far away my doctor told me not to come till they were the 5 minutes apart for an hour. But this being your second baby you may want to go when they are a little further apart. second babies usually come faster than the first. I was is the same situation with my second but my water broke first. My husband sped the whole way to the hospital lol. Good luck mama!!! your getting close!!!
