Fresh broccoli vs. frozen

Fresh is on sale this week, do I need to pre-cook it somehow to use it in a recipe? Should I buy frozen (also on sale)?

Depends on the recipe. Frozen is mushy  

Frozen i will only use in a pinch and then I steam it. It's not nearly as good as fresh. Depending on the recipe, you probably don't have to do anything special to it. You can sautee, steam, boil, grill, etc whatever you want with it raw. Just rinse it well because ickies can hide in there.

It depends how you cook it. If you boil it for too long it definitely is. But you can have good frozen broccoli you just can't over cook it.

Sorry, meant to say it would be for a casserole with pre-cooked chicken, rice and cheese.

Nope no special prep! Use fresh! So much better!
