Dealing with night terrors?

posted 17th Nov
I am dealing with night terrors with my two year old. It occurs every night, he will wake up screaming and we have put a toddler bed in our room because he goes back asleep a lot easier and quicker in the room with us. Is there any ways to help them not occur every night?
I have been told by many people he just has to outgrow them....

Is he too warm? DD gets them when she over-heats in her sleep. Turn the heat lower at night (people sleep better in cooler environments, anyway)

some say its due to them being over tired.. and others say like you said they just need to out grow them.my son stopped having them when he was about 3.5... thankfully its been about a year since hes had one *knock on wood*

i know people say dont wake them but honestly, waking cameron worked best. i would turn on his light, get him out of bed and litereally walk around the house with him. within a few minutes he would usually come to reality and then want to go back to bed. thats what we did 90 pct of the time.. we did have a few occasions of him just being so out of control ive had to bear hug him so he wouldnt hurt himself from thrashing around

Our heat is set to 70 degrees at night (its been getting down to.40-50 degrees outside). They have a fan the runs in their room to circulate the air too.

He gets to screaming so loud he wakes himself up. I've never had to wake him up, he comes to me. In terms of over tired he seems to sleep enough. He gets up at 8am naps 12-1pm and bed at 8pm.

Heat rises, so youre just circulating warm air. Maybe 70 is too high for him, maybe try 68 for a night or two and keep him in just a sleep-and-play pajama?

http://www.webmd.com/sleep-disorders/features/cant-sleep-adjust-the-temperature this explains a bit better why temperature affects our sleep. if nothing is working, what harm could one night of temperature adjustment do to see if it helps your LO?
