Rice at 1 month old?

posted 17th Nov
So I read on a different site that someone was feeding their one month old rice in a bowl every morning and night. Can a month old have rice? I mean they still really can't do anything so are they ready for that? I have a 5 week old and it just doesnt seem like he is close to being ready to have rice.

It isn't recommended to give solids until 6 months at the earliest. Rice at 1 month is asinine. jmo

No , there stomachs cant handle that. You'll just make baby constipation or it'll come back up and choke the baby.

When can they start to have rice and/or oatmeal? Im a FTM so I have no idea about any of this. I know that they can't start to try baby food until 6 months so is it the same for rice/oatmeal?

That's ridiculous. Why?!?! Empty calories and no 1 month old should be I solids unless for AR and dr recommended.

And op how the heck is the baby chewing and swallowing rice at a month old? I mean, I could see if they meant that cereal that goes in the actual formula but rice----no way!!!

We gave our son baby cereal at 3 months old under Dr recommendation because he was never content with formula and was going threw double the recommended amount.
Babies cannot even start solids untill they can sit up with minimal to no assistance, and if they are under 5.5-6 months it is better to just confirm it with your Dr. They can check out your baby to see if it is a good idea or not.
We gave him other solids at 4.5 months, but no meat untill 6.5 months

If u mean rice cereal my kids pediatrician said to start it at 4-5 months. Some people put it in the bottle early for AR.

Holy smurfing smurf, no. Much too young. Still dealing with an open gut at that age.

If the child has acid reflux then they can have it that early but normal 1 month olds can not. If it is doctor recommended for acid reflux.

I started my daughter on jar baby food at 4 months because everyone time we ate she opened her mouth and got upset if the spoon didn't come near her. It helped with a lot of things but cereal is different. Especially rice cereal, you kind of have to chew that and it is really thick. Especially for a one month old
