I was scheduled to be induced at 41 weeks (July 26th) I went in at 6am and was checked by the nurses. I was a finger tip dilated basically not thinned at all, hard and my cervix was extremely far back. My contractions were 3-5 minutes apart like they had been for a month already, they just werent strong enough. They started me on Cervidil which was a 12 hour dose. I ate some chicken broth and fell asleep. After 12 hours(6pm) the nurse came to check me again and I was 1cm and 20% effaced. So they decided to give me another dose of Cervidil at 8pm and an Ambien to help me sleep. So I passed right out. I woke up at 3am feeling vaginal pain. I went to the bathroom and I was extremely swollen and bleeding. I called the nurse in and she verified that it was my bloody show. I went back to sleep and woke up and ate some soup and got checked at 9am. I was almost 3cms and 60%effaced. At around 10am They started me on pitocin. The contractions had been obvious since earlier but the pitocin definitely made them stronger. They were very uncomfortable so when my midwife came in to check me at noon she found out I was 80% effaced and 4cms so she offered me the epidural. After getting my epidural at 1pm I passed out until 5pm. I was checked again and was at 8cms and 90% effaced My water was buldging.. The contractions got so bad that I became sensitive to the light and hurt. I had a towel across my eyes, i was hot, sweaty, uncomfortable and just wanted to cry. At 8pm my midwife came in and broke my water. That's where I first got scared. My son had pooped in his water. I was so worried and ready to get my baby boy out. At 9:30 I was 100% effaced and 10cms. I started pushing at 9:45. I pushed for 2 hours. I had to have an episiotomy because my son was bigger than anticipated. His shoulder got caught on my pelvic bone. I pushed one last time in complete agony as my midwife yanked him out at 11:48pm on July 27th. NICU was already in the room to clear his lungs and make sure he didn't inhale anything. They also checked his shoulders because my midwife was scared that she broke his shoulder. I heard my baby boy cry as I was being stitched up. The NICU doctors said he was fine and I felt me passing the placenta and then everything went black.. My mom had to fill in the blanks for me. When I passed the placenta it shocked my midwife because it was enlarged and then I began to hemmorhage. My eyes rolled back and I became unresponsive. 12 doctors/nurses came rushing into the room. Put an oxygen mask on me, attempted to get an IV in my arm but could not get it in so they tried my hand and was successful. My midwife got the hemmorhaging to stop as I slowly came to. All I could feel was the blood running down my arm/hand. I was still pretty out of it and was still unresponsive even though I was understanding what was going on. When things finally calmed down and I became responsive again my midwife said I was very close to needing a blood transfusion. It was extremely scary! Once I finally got to hold my son I was very upset because I was sooooo weak that I could barely hold him. I wanted to cry. I was so weak and he was a big baby on top of that (9lbs 15oz) So the first time holding him was not as enjoyable as I expected(don't get me wrong I loved it but I was so uncomfortable). But I finally got to eat and rest as his dad took care of him. Once I got my strength back I was beyond happy to have my baby boy in my arms. He has been mama's biggest cuddler since
