Car Seat Help (Diono RXT)

posted 17th Nov
So DH and I installed our brand new RXT's today woot. One if RF for my 9 month old the other FF for my 3 year old. Problem im having we cannot get the straps tight on either seat. There is a good 3-4 inches of slack when we tighten them. The strap that comes out the bottom that you pull to tighten is really long too. On the FF seat it is touching the floor plus a few inches just laying there. I have never had to much "extra" with any of my previous seats. We have both read the manual cover to cover and can't find anything so help please. Suggestions ideas?

It's a ratcheting harness. It's more of a "pull pull pull, tight" than a smooth motion tightening.

And yeah, the straps are really long. But with a seat with limits that high the harness has to accomodate that.

DH was pulling as hard as he could and it wouldn't tighten anymore and the straps were still loose.

One thing I do sometimes (Though it won't work for the FF seat), is to grab the harness on the back and pull it tight, then pull the retractor strap to tighten it. It works for the RF seat.

If you can't get it tight then you might have a defective seat and you'll have to call them or return it

Thanks I guess I just need a bit more fussing with the straps. It was just odd to me the strap was so long. She was in a britax with harness up to 70lbs and it never hung that low so I thought maybe we had done something wrong.
