re: do you care if your family likes your babys name?

i dont think i would care maybe a little bit if my mam dont like but i would still keep my childs name the same

My in laws gave me sooo much crap the whole time I was pregnant for picking the name Oliver, they said he was going to be teased. It definitely upset me, but I refused to change it. and now that he is here they are starting to deal with it

Yes. I do care what they think...I ask for opinions. I'm not going to be happy naming my child a name that my family is going to make fun of for the rest of their lives. I'd rather it be a name that everyone likes. I still choose the names, but I like it to be a name that isn't going to be insulted forever.

Ok   I know it is random but I was curious

Just about everyone in my family hated the name we chose for our son. I told them they will learn to love it cuz i didnt give a crap. Now that he is here I have not heard one negative comment or any of the stupid nicknames they swore they would call him. Name him what you guy like its your child not theirs. Once he is here i bet the subject will not come up again.

I only care about one other person, that's my husband. I don't give a smurf who else likes it.

My mom was the only one who said anything about my son's name but I can understand why she didn't like it. I named him Michael. He is Michael Anthony III. So my husband's name is obviously Michael and my step brother's name is Michael too. I also have a cousin with the same name. She didnt like it and I honestly wasn't too thrilled about Michael either because it is so common but I wasn't about to tell my husband that he couldnt name his son after him. Now I love the name. But it didnt really bother me that my mom didn't like it. She named me Brittany which is sooo common for women my age so why cant I name my son a common name? Plus my brother was named after my father so she should understand why I was ok with my son being named after my husband.

I don't care. I have my names picked out and I adore them.

I don't care if others don't like my names. I won't change it for them.

My Son would have been Grayson Douglas and my daughter would have been Norah Jayne had my MIL not opened her gob. I'm trying really hard to keep the name a secret, but my husband isn't buying it. SO far we haven't picked one, but I'd rather pick one at the hospital, than hear what she has to say this time. This is our last and I want a name I absolutely love, not one I have to settle for because she doesn't have something nasty to say about it.
