Cake preservation

We're cutting my DS a cake tomorrow (his 4th birthday was Thursday). We're going to dinner with immediate family and then cutting him a cake. Only issue is we had to pick up the cake today because the bakery is closed on Sundays. I dunno what to do to preserve the cake until tomorrow..DH says to freeze it then let it defrost in the morning..I think leaving out will be fine..what should I do?

Just in the refrigerator for a day should be fine, if it was a week plus I'd say freeze it.

what kind of cake? i usually put them in the fridge if they have whipped cream frosting and/or filling.

otherwise, you could just leave it on the counter.

For one night? I'd leave it out or put it in the fridge (if its in a cardboard bakery container)

I was a cake decorator at walmart and they do the cakes a day in advance and but them in the fridge overnight
