Not at all clingy...

posted 17th Nov
So I read a lot on here people struggling with babies that always want to be held etc, and the majority of people I know with babies have had the same problem. But DD really isn't fussed, the only time she ever cries is if I take too long feeding her. Is it bad that she seems to never 'want' to be held? This may be a silly question but I'm new to this whole mum thing so don't judge me :') shouldn't she feel she needs to be held at some point? Meh, I dunno if I make sense but I hope I do to someone...

LOL

Has she always been like this or is it new? Some babies are happy to just be. They don't need to be held and are perfectly happy being in a bouncer or swing and watching life or looking at their toys. I had 2 babies like this. My oldest started getting "clingy" at 3 weeks, but then once we figured out how to soothe him, he was quite happy to just be on his own. It was great! I got to shower, clean the house, etc. He was just content.

My second was the same way for the most part.

My third was just a mama's boy and wanted to be held all the time. Once he got to be about 6 weeks, he was happy to sit and watch his brother and sister and they would play with him, etc.

This one, however...when she's not asleep, I'd BETTER be holding her lol. And that's a recent development. She wanted to be held WHILE she slept, too!

So I've had both. Some kids are just laid back and are okay with hanging out. That may change in the future or it may not. My oldest went from clingy to independent to EXTREMELY clingy once he was 2. You just never know.

It means she'll be a psychopath.

She won't be able to connect to humans and will torture animals.

She will be detached from everything around her.

TOTALLY not serious. Just might be part of her personality!   She's a non clingy baby.

This! LOL
she was never clingy at ALL as a newbie. She was fine sitting in her swing or chair and sleeping in her crib. I however wasn't having any of that and now at 8 months she holds my ankles while I walk screaming mama. What have I done? Lol

My daughter was never clingy from baby stage up until now-I think its because she knows she isn't the only LO around here anymore however I am totally expecting DS to be all hanging off me eventually

Still a very young baby. Most times they go through a separation anxiety stage around eight months. I actually believe a baby can't be clingy I mean they are babies being held is a normal thing. Your baby is just fine.
