Do you think this is a good idea or a bad idea? Do you support those striking?

Hell yeah I support those striking. Walmart treats their employees like smurf, they're a multi billion dollar company and they don't even pay their employees a livable wage. Plus, they have all their smurf made as cheap as possible in China.

I won't even shop there anymore. Their business practices are so greedy.

I think after what happened to the people striking at Hostess I sure wouldn't be on strike if I was them. Not that Walmart would ever go under but still... So many people don't have jobs, I think they should be thankful that they can work.

I support it. I think it is about time people stand up for their right to health care and higher wages without the fear of their hours dropped.

Thankful to work and still be on welfare? Forced to work holidays? Have your job threatened constantly?

Did you read that they're TRIPLING the price of their insurance? Give me a break.

personally I don't' agree with striking. Fire those people who don't' want to work and hire those of us who are willing to work and have been looking.

Seriously. I worked there during the holiday season. I was paid 7.25, no benefits were offered, the managers were hateful as smurf, the work was smurf, etc. Smurf Walmart. If I weren't so cheap, I wouldn't shop there.

agreed, when SO worked at walmart i worked a part time job and had to g3t food stamps and medicaid because walmarts pay and insurance options suck. you cant survive on their wages. they are multibillion dollar company they could afford to offer better.

IDK, I have very little symapthy for those who complain that it's not "fair" they work on every holiday. Life's not fair. Period. You knew coming into the job that it may be a requirement to work on undesireable days. That's just how it is. As for a "living wage" and better healthcare, I can somewhat sympathize. But, again, I figure you know what you're getting into when you accept a smurffy job like that.

Walmart does not close on certain holidays. Same with other places.

Walmart has ALWAYS treated employees bad. People still choose to make it a 'career' for them. Aka working for 20+ years.

A job is a job right now. If they don't like it, I'm sure they could look else where, at a place that treats their employees better

Walmart shouldn't be a smurffy job. Seriously. It's a multi billion dollar company.

And no company like that should be allowed to not pay a livable wage. You do realize that Walmart is really costing the American people trillions of dollars in welfare, food stamps, WIC and Medicaid, right? They literally send their employees to sign up for those programs.

I support them. Especially because they do deserve more for what they work. As far as the scheduling goes. No....Most retail jobs don't give a smurf what shift you work. If we got to pick our shifts, nobody would ever close, lol.

Walmart has deep pockets and short arms. They need to pay their employees more....

I agree with it. After DH worked for Walmart for three years, they terminated him on the day his full time employment began. During those three years, they refused to give him time off for DS's birth, cut his hours dramatically, made his insurance nearly impossible to obtain, and various other things. I worked for Walmart as well and they did not treat me fairly either.

Point blank, Walmart needs to change, along with other companies. Yes, a store needs customers for a profit...but if the employees are not treated well and refuse to work, how can they conduct business? In my view, the employees are just as important as the customers. Wake up Walmart!

Uh... yes.

If you don't have a degree, be prepared to deal with smurf jobs. Everyone works holidays... I'm an assistant manager and I work holidays. Everyone has to, at least 5 hours. And my company is amazing and takes very good care of their employees. The wage? Eh, they knew what it was when they took the job. They can't pay everyone $11 an hour.. especially when the job doesn't CALL for that much money. Most of the people there are either cashiers or stockers. Not big enough of a job to make $11 an hour.
