Yep. My aunt has been at her job for like 6 years. She started at 7.25 and only makes 8.15. My mom worked there for 6 years too and never got past 8 an hour.

I worked for a holistic dog food company that was like that.

I would never have worked for that amount with what I was doing. I spent hours each day "schooling" people on proper canine nutrtion. There was also the stocking, upselling, etc.

Quoting khigh:" Which company?"

It's gone now, the owner died a few years ago.

It was called O&M (Owen and Manderville).
I believe his ex-business partner may still be using the recipe, but idk what brand name he has it under now.

It was good quality food, smurf was better than what most people eat

Yeah, it was a grocery store but it was in the office. There was a lot to it. The cashiers, sure, I can see it, but not what they were doing. So not worth it.

Ah. Those are the companies I like. Where the reps are eating the food themselves at the trade show. One thing I'm going to miss about that world is the trade shows. Vegas was always fun!

Yep, one of our guys particularly liked the peanut butter dog bisquits, he would eat them at his desk for snack all the time

OMG, I had forgotten about all that

but it was just a stepping stone....

DD eats these:

They are organic, sugar free, and taste amazing. They are also dog cookies. I haven't found human cookies with ingredients like this:

Organic wheat flour, organic dehydrated cane juice, organic sunflower and/or organic canola and/or organic palm oil, organic cane syrup, organic rice starch, organic blueberry flavor, organic vanilla extract, soy lecithin

Unfortunately, being "treated like smurf' is expected when you work a minimum wage retail job, and like someone else said, those jobs that require no education or skill are not meant to completely support a whole family. I get it.... I'm a single mom. I know how hard it is to go to school to try to get a better job and I know that it isn't always an option for everyone. I worked at Hardee's for over 5 years and didn't exactly get treated like gold. After that, I worked at a struggling diner for over 3 years. We were supposed to get paid every Friday and half the time, we would show up on Fridays and they'd be like "lol sorry, we don't have enough money, so you all aren't getting paid today." It's the reality of working a smurffy job... not once did I think of going on strike.

And bitching about working holidays when you work at a place open 24/7/365 is f'n ridiculous. I work at a casino. We never close. I had to work Easter, mothers day, I missed out on my daughter's 4th birthday, 4th of July, I missed out on taking her trick or treating, I have to work Thanksgiving, Christmas eve, Christmas day and New years eve. Do I bitch about it or go on strike because it's unfair? No, because I knew missing out on holidays would happen when I took a job someone that is open 24/7/365.
