It is pretty disrespectful.

My MIL would love nothing more than if we used my FIL's middle name, since our son has my grandfather, father and brother's middle name as his own. I HATE the name stephan and really have no intention of ever using it. She actually, started bringing it up when I was pregnant w/ our son. I told her then, no disrespect, but my FIL doesn't have a great name and it's not a family tradition like my son's middle name (I know my grandfather would have been really hurt had I not used it, and my grandfather was more like a father to me.) SO I've told her its not going to happen, and yet 3rd baby is coming and she till brings it up on occasion. She's the type of person who if she gets something in her head, there is no changing her mind. However, She'd never be as disrespectful to start calling my child what ever she wanted us to name him or her.
I'd definitely say something if I were you.

I'm definitely going to be bringing it up if she is still doing it when we see her. She said at one point during my pregnancy "I don't like that name, this one is better". Just so rude. Even DH hates his middle name so making him a Jr was a huge no from the beginning.

I mean I can understand why it's bothering you, my dad used to only call DS Wally, (his middle name is Walter) because he didn't like his name because he was named after his dad. But it could be worse, she could call him Lucas or something random. Or Susie

Yeah I think the problem isn't the name, it's that she is doing it out of spite for not doing what she wanted. It's one thing to have a cute nickname or to use a different name as a family, but she is just being bitchy. I'm angry and I don't even know her, lol.

I think you did! Haha I know quite a few ladies from the DD group did when her and FIL were talking about men not being able to take care of themselves.
