Milk intake

Just wondering, my 5 1/2 month old gets four 4 ounce bottles of formula a day and she breast-feeds once in the morning and once or twice during the night. Does it sound like she is taking in enough?

The reason she is only breastfeeding so little is because she is almost weaned off. I think when she's done breastfeeding she will probably take 5 four ounce bottles. She might take one at night too but I'm not sure... So she will be getting 20 or 24 ounces a day. 20 just seems like so little to me.

Can anyone tell me the amount they are supposed to be taking in a 24 hour period?

At that age my son was ff and ate around 30 to 32 ounces a day. But all babies are different, so long as she's gaining weight and having enough wet diapers she should be fine

OK thanks.   I figure that once she is completely off the boob, the amount of formula she takes in might change. She has been a slow gainer with weight but I think the formula is helping (she's only been getting it for almost 3 weeks now). And she definitely has enough wet diapers!
