Requesting time off

posted 17th Nov
I requested a couple weeks ago for Saturdays off to work on homework since most of my homework is due on Sundays. my boss was cool with it and gave me today off...last night I was advised by a coworker that there was a revised schedule out and that I had to work tomorrow. (today..) I am kinda pissed off about it and feel like calling my boss to tell her I can't work today..when I spoke to her on the phone last night she didn't mentioned I had to work today.. *sigh* I've got a 200 word essay and homework due tomorrow and I haven't started it...

Ugh, I'm sorry... If it helps, 200 words isn't much at all. It SOUNDS worse than it is, honestly. Once you figure out just what you're writing, it should fly by... What's the rest of your homework??

Well, your best bet is to get started now, save before you go to work, and finish tonight and tomorrow...

You know, that's the same face I made when I read that, lol. Not everyone's blessed to have a 9-5 monday through friday job.

..... If she's doing homework, I'd say her job is less of a career and more of a J-O-B. Every J-O-B requires weekends   I work retail right now and the dreaded revised schedule is also a pain in my ass.

Um, yes. I've always had a M-F except 1 job when I was younger. Get a career in corporate america.

People will always have to work on the weekends. You don't go shopping, out to eat, get your car fixed, or any other of a million activities and services that require workers on the weekend? People certainly don't need medical attention on the weekends! FFS.

Unless your boss informed you that there was a revised schedule put up, i wouldnt worry about. Im sure your work has some sort of policy on what day the schedule is posted and if they revised it afterwards, its their responsibility to inform all employees of the changes.

If you live in a teeny tiny town that shuts down on the weekends maybe you can just "go get" a M-F job. But face it, most of the jobs out there are that are not careers tend to be in some kind of service. For you guys, those who can't bear to work weekends because of all the stuff they'd rather do. Somebody has to be there to enable all that! I love working weekends, esp in healthcare, because you get paid more and usually that's ALL you work. 5 days off, booyah!
