I don't think it is unnecessary. I think you need to hear it. Naming your child after people running through the streets robbing and attacking people will make their life harder than it needs to be.

It is a name. I have no intention of having my child brought up to believe that his name will effect what he can do. People should be judged by who they are as a person, not by their name. Although I am fully aware that this is not how things are, anybody who would throw out a resume because of a name should not be an employer. That is right up there with not hiring people because they have visible tattoos, regardless of the fact that they aren't anything offensive. Besides that, we are living in a world where the more creative and unusual names are more common. It is very possible that by the time my child is of an age where he is looking for work his name would be socially "acceptable".
