Traditional or themed wedding?

posted 17th Nov
I am getting married next November. I bought my dress, and have been looking for a venue to book. I recently came across a place in Vegas that does a Rocky Horror Picture Show themed wedding. I LOVE that movie. And I always joked if I found a place that I would get married there. I also threw around the idea of doing a 50s themed reception, of which this place in Vegas actually does a 50s themed reception. I am so torn! I want my traditional wedding, but have a Rocky Horror themed ceremony and a 50s themed reception just sounds like to much fun! What do I do? Any suggestions would be helpful. And I already thought about the renewing my vows thing, I just don't know what I want my actual wedding to be.

Do the RH wedding in Vegas and then have a more traditional reception at home.

I wish I could do both, but to do both would be mighty expensive. Who knew eloping in Vegas was that expensive. Just for the ceremony I would be looking at 1,200. Not including hotel and flight. So it would have to be one or the other.

Not a fan of themed weddings but whatever floats your boat.

When I got married in Vegas 6 years ago, we paid $740 for the entire wedding! Cake, garter, pastor, rose peddles, candlelight, etc! It was so much cheaper than a regular wedding. And more fun.

The themed wedding would be cheaper. We got quoted for the traditional reception at $5150. I wish Ohio had something like Vegas does so I could have my themed ceremony and then go straight to my traditional reception.

We did Vegas with 20ish people on Dec 2nd and then had 100ish people for a reception in my home town on Jan 6th.

Do some research. Maybe you can find a drama club of some kind that could help with the themed wedding. Maybe a highschool drama class or something like that. If you can get creative, you can do it! Achieving your theme at home will probably be costly, but worth it if it is what makes you happy.

How many people are you planning on having come? And can the people you want there the most afford the trip etc? Just something to consider.

That's a good idea. I know they have a showing of the movie with some dressed characters not to far from me. And if we went to Vegas only my mom, cousin, best friend, aunt and maybe my SO's mom would come. They could all afford it.
