primrose oil!

I know primrose oil DOES NOT INDUCE YOU IT ONLY HELP SOFTENS YOU UP! How do you take them? Did it help with some of you ladies? My ob said it is safe to try. Doesnt hurt to try.And if it worked for you please explain how you took it and when you went into labor(:

a girl friend of mine is using this now, and at 37 weeks, her cervix was soft and mushy, no dialation.

so i asked my midwife about it, and she said she reccomnds it! that it doesnt work for everyone, but does for a lot of ppl and no harm in trying.

per her instructions: 500mg by mouth once a day, beggining at 34 weeks. at 37 weeks, 1000mg by mouth once a day, and 500 mg inserted vaginally at night.

You can take them orally and insert them vaginally.
I tried orally and they gave me the WORST heartburn.
I'm going to start inserting them within the next week, I think.

try it, i used it when i was pregnant with my DS and i think it worked, i know it's not supposed to put you in labor but i think it helped me thin out a lot. I inserted 1-2 capsules in my vagina every night when i was around 37 weeks and i had him at 37 weeks 5 days.

but, why not just wait, until your baby is ready to come out ?

it doesnt induce labor, or make baby come early. its only purpose is to soften the cervix to get it more favorable for labor. does nothing to bring baby out.

Do you insert tgem at the same time only at night? I have the 1000mg

At night is best since you'll be leaky and gross. Wear a panty liner.

I only inserted them at night and yep both at the same time you might want to just try 1 first though. When i tried Primrose oil with my DD it made my cervix feel like it was burning.

I know this is normal in pregnancy and i dont want to sound selfish but im a small figure i gained 55 pounds the doc saud she is healthy and 7pounds im already 2cm dialated im in constant pain but i just wanted to try something to make labor easier i herd it helps also with tearing as well. I know it doesnt rush the baby out and im not looking to rush her out at all just something thats natural and safe to take

you dont sound selfish at all. i think when ppl hear "primrose oil" they associate it w castor oil, something totally diff. w my son, my induction lasted 5 days, 4 of those 5 days were spent trying to soften my cervix, so im def using EPO this go round to try and soften it slowly over time. let us know if it works for you!

I think I may pick some up this week, just to give it a try. No harm in softening smurf up!!
