Who gives a crap if she screams and cries?
OPs child is NOT ready for a belt positioning booster.

Not having the discipline(not saying OPs child is bad) to keep the clip in the right spot, means they won't have the discipline to sit correctly in a booster.

Here are some more ideas from a tech:

a) move the shoulder pads from the shoulders and put them under the chest clip (although some people don't like this option, it can be a good temporary solution)
b) put a zip up coat on the child, unzip it (but leave it on), put the child in the harness, then zip the coat up OVER the harness (safety pinning the zipper on the coat if necessary)
c) use the scratchy side of the velcro on the clip, but make sure it doesn't interfere with the clip at all.
d) give toys to distract from the chest clip.

i care if DD is screaming and fighting to get out and i made a sugesstion many kids at 4 dont want to be in a 5point im not saying to give in all the time but at some point kids will sit better in a boster than the 5point what good does the 5point do if its not used correctly?

No 4 year old should be in a booster seat.

excuse me? i say she isnt in the proper seat? she is rearfacing in a convertable car seat i changed seats and she is much happier i dont want her screaming so hard she pukes

Thing is, by putting them in a booster, you are putting them in charge of their own safety. They need to be able to sit still 100% of the time, no leaning to grab a toy or being wiggly, putting the belt behind their back, falling asleep, etc. If the belt is not on them correctly in a crash, it can cause serious injuries. Most kids just plain do not have the impulse control to handle it until age 5 or 6, sometimes longer.

It's people like you that make me wish there were mandatory car seat safety classes.
You don't give in to a 4 year old and sacrifice their safety just because they won't listen. You teach them right.

im saying try it it may be what works because she feels shes in control of her seat if the 5point isnt being used correctly its no safer than a highback booster IMO

Wrong.
She's not going to die in a wreck if her clip is pushed down a few inches.
It NEEDS to be in the right spot, yes. Put putting her in a booster.
Did you even read the part about her child being 29lbs? Not even the MINIMUM weight needed to be in a booster.

At 4 years, it's a issue of talking to the child about why it is so important. You (general you) wouldn't put your 2 year old in a booster if they kept pushing down the clip would you?

Not to mention, kids under 40lbs are at a higher risk of submarining (sliding under the lapbelt) in a crash.

at her size yes she NEEDS to be in a 5point thats why i said depending on her size and people like me? explain people like me? if shes not waering it correctly how is it safer than the highback booster and if i recall correctly i said punish her if she keeps pushing it down OR try switching seats

yes i read that you should read from the begining i said depending on her size and when she said shes 29lbs i said keep her in the 5point and discipline her
