Quoting The (super kinky) Master:" Lets say the promotions aren't really that important and it was the debt which is all but paid off which ... [snip!] ... problem. With the promotions you would be well off ... without you would be comfortable with around $1500 a month for savings."

$1500 a month for savings is pretty good. As long as we weren't struggling and were able to pay all our bills, buy groceries and have enough money left over to be able to buy all the necessities and to live off of until the next paycheck then I see no reason why we wouldn't be able to support a baby. I just don't want my children to struggle, and if I were to become pregnant in a situation where with a baby we would struggle then I'd abort. I feel it's unfair to bring a child into a situation where they will deprived of a good life.

Quoting Twin's Mommy:" Say the promotions were to fall through, how long would it take you to get out of the debt?"

Would already be out of debt. Apart from mortgages say the debt will be paid off in 8 weeks, whilst the promotions aren't due for around another 12-14 weeks.

getting the promotion pregnant is no problem because you have the option to work broken shifts at home

I mean.. I aborted so I could go to school... seems kinda like the same thing to me. Except that was 2 years before I was interested in having a baby, not months.

Can you get the promotion if you're pregnant? I'm thinking I'd keep it if in 2 months you'll be debt free. Then, even if you didn't get the promotions, you still wouldn't have any debt except the mortgages.

Honestly, I wouldn't do it then. Struggling for an extra 2 months doesn't really seem worth getting the abortion. In my opinion anyway, it's hard to say because it's not really that black and white.

I'd keep the baby. If you can live comfortably with or without the promotions and you'll be out of debt.

I agree with this.
Plus, I'd be worried about the emotions of an abortion ruining my marriage. I wouldn't be able to bring myself to TTC after an abortion and that would probably end up causing all kinds of marital problems.

I'm TTC after an abortion and it has no effect on my marriage, what so ever.

Not everyone can though. I know in my marriage, it'd be a deal breaker.

The difference in yearly income between the current wage ($75,000 - $80,000 a year between two), and the promotion wage ($85,000 - $90,000) is quite significant, but with only a $1450 a month mortgage and $400 a month car loan its do-able. However you would have to reuse some baby stuff and couldn't afford everything you wanted.

Also say this was in a country with universal healthcare and 18 weeks paid maternity leave.

I'd keep the baby. For sure. Not because I'm against abortion but because this baby is wanted adn was going to be tried for anyways in a couple of months and it's doable.

That's about the same place were at now financially. Until May, when I finish school and can start working. I honestly don't think we'll have to buy ANYTHING for the baby until she's about 3 months old. We've already been given all of the 'big' stuff we need and TONS of clothes and I haven't even had my shower yet.
