Mucus plug and cramping? *TMI*

I am 39 weeks and I think I may have lost some of my mucus plug earlier. Whenever I wiped it was just like I was spotting a little at first but then there was snot like discharge with brownish blood on the toilet paper. Is that my mucus plug?? It stopped and I had mild period like cramps for about 4 hours and then I noticed a little more when I just went to the bathroom. Also, is it normal to cramp if you are losing your mucus plug? The blood and cramping just freaked me out some but the baby is still moving like normal. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday so he checked my cervix and I wasn't dilating but my cervix has moved lower down. So could that make me start spotting and cramping some a day later?? I am barely cramping now but thinking it may be a good idea to call my hospital and see what they think? I tried to call my OB's office earlier but couldnt get an answer! Thanks for any advice!

I am thinking maybe it is just pieces. It is coming and going tonight anyways and so is the cramping! It just freaked me out honestly lol.
