You're probably right, it always looks worse from the outside too. And I'm sorry but I do see it as lazy to be too wrapped up in a conversation to check on your kid, but that's my point of view. And you and I differ on a lot of things so I don't expect us to see eye to eye. And I can see the "most parents" thing, but she said she knew it was abnormal and still didn't check, that's what I hold against her. She noticed something was abnormal, and still just kept doing her own thing.

And I DEFINITELY don't think that's right. Any time I get a bad feeling I check on my daughter, always. But, like I said, she must feel so so so guilty, and you can tell by how she wrote the story she blames no one but herself. So I'm not going to judge her. Just happy the little girl is okay and she didn't have to learn this lesson with a tragic ending.

Oh yeah you can tell she feels bad, but that gut feeling, as parents there's a reason. That's what I will never understand. And I mean, people feel bad over lots of stuff, that doesn't mean what they didn't wasn't stupid ya know?

Yes, what she did was stupid. I agree. You should never ignore that gut instinct as a parent. But, she took full blame and for that, I can tell she's not some half assed parent.
The mom from the zoo blamed the dogs.   THAT'S just stupid.


Both situations are horrible, but not comparable. IMO anyway.

I wasn't necessarily comparing them as equals in parenting, more like both things they did were similar in level of stupidity.

omg me too. I thought that same thing when I heard about that. I would have jumped in after her and either tried to escape or huddle my body over hers so at least when they attacked they got me and not her...and hopefully she would live.

Jesus Christ...reading this made me DIZZY and lightheaded.. I feel so bad for the mother. I feel even worse for the little girl. That whole situation was just terrible   I pray nothing like this EVER happens to my family.
