cracked nipples already?

Just had my baby girl at 1225 this morning and we got two bad latches when I tried bfing this morning and now my nipples hurt so badly...I'm still in the hospital but the lactation consultant didn't tell me what to do about it! And now she's off till Monday...I just don't know what to do I want to bf sooooooooo badly this time! Plz help! Thanks ladies  

You need to use that lansinoh for your nipples, that stuff works wonders!

This stuff works wonders and is great without it i would have quit after the first day. See if someone will go to the store to get you some or if the nurses have some it will not harm baby. It will actually help there lips if they are chapped.

Is that like lanolin? Has anyone used a nipple shield? She's latching well now but it just hurts so badly from before!

The nurse gave me a sample sized tube and it lasted forever! Just a little bit helps so much and goes so far!

Yes lansinoh is the brand lanolin is what is in it. The nipples being sore will be sore until your nipples get use to it. I hope you this helps. I have never used a nipple shield so I have no idea on that one.

I had my son 2 weeks ago. I've even bf ever since. The importance is in the latch. There's a hard spot on the roof of babies mouth & a soft spot. If baby isn't getting his whole mouth around your nipple and some of the ariola it's gonna be painful. Make sure the nipple is in the soft part of the roof of his mouth & trust me you'll feel the difference. You can even feel it in your own mouth the two spots. GL & don't give up!!
