The swelling was so much better with the iced pads, it was quite improved by the time I left the hospital. I was there for 5 days after though.

Ice packs, and warm baths help a lot...the swelling will go down in a couple days, but the irritating stitches will last around 2 weeks. Don't walk too much too soon. I tried to go shopping 3 days after having LO, and it was horrible.

Ask for ice pack!!!! Its usually a diaper cut open and ice is stuffed in and wear it like a pad... feels amazing I didn't even want the pain meds, just ice packs lol, got to the point the lady showed my husband how to do it and showed him were the ice was   good luck

Recovery from an episiotomy is rough   it was a few days before I could walk alright. Use that spray bottle, it IS your best friend!

2-3 weeks - i was able to take baths while still in the hospital and that really helped. I also took medicine to help with the pain. Ice packs are good for the swelling. It sucks but it will pass soon. Good luck!

A lot of people recommended this to me:

Like people swear by it.

I didn't get a chance to actually try it, but several moms told me about it.

A bit of advice if you have an episiotomy for the 1st pregnancey there's a possabilty of tearing again with next pregnancy but try not to get stitched up as it's a hell of a lot less painful.
I had to have a episiotomy when my first was born but then I went on to have another 2 kids & I tore in the same place. The midwife never stitched me up she just to left it heal by itself & it's a lot less painful.
I'm 5 weeks pregnant now & i'm epecting to tear when I have this one but as long as midwives leave me to heal myself i'm happy lol

I was warned about the first pee, but it didn't bother me at all. Not sure why, but I'm not complaining! haha
