membrane sweep

If Kaleb hasn't come by next week my OB said shed be doing a membrane sweep. I know it's a slight chance it may bring on labor but I've never had it done before and am honestly a little nervous. Does it hurt? How effective is it? Next step between 39-40 weeks is induction.

It hurts but it is very fast. The Dr just sticks a finger in and loosens the sac from being attached to the uterus. So yeah you get a little cramping. It can help bring on labor it is not something that always works.
I had cramping the whole day after I had mine… noting I could not manage. I went shopping after mine for last min things for my bag and new baby! I live about an hour away from my hospital so I wanted to spend some time near the dr just incase it worked quick.

It might works with in a few hours or days or not at all

I suggest it because it can help and prevent you from needing further induction later on

I had it done just over 48 hours ago and nothing yet. I am 1 cm dilated, 75% effaced and in station 0. I don't know if that makes a difference. It did hurt but it was over pretty fast & I had some cramping for the rest of the day. I bled a little bit too.

i went into labor 30 min after my second one!! went into labor with the first one but it stopped :/

yah my dr did this cause i had pre e and i didnt want to be induced so he did this twice to see if i would go natural and not be induced and sure as smurf the day befroe my induction was scheduled i went into labor!! Good luck mama!!
