Please tell me if your LO has this or not?

posted 16th Nov
My baby is 12 months and somtimes it seams like he just can't fall asleep. most of the time he sleeps very well but somtimes it seams like he jus can't sleep. He will toss and turn and try sucking fingers, humming, toss and turn some more. When this happens I know that my LO is sleepy and he will often try for about 20 min before he gets upset and wants to do something different.

When this happens he is not crying or anything, it seams exactly like when an adult just can’t sleep. But I know babies can’t have the same reasons as adults for not sleeping. So I am curious if you’re LO ever seams like they can’t sleep.
My baby is 12 months and this happens about 2 times a month for the past 6 months.

I am wondering if this is somthing normal that happens to all babies

My 18 month old never just falls asleep easily, so yeah I'm pretty sure it's normal.

Hrmm have you tried playing classical music in his room quietly?
It sounds like his mind is just spinning and he can't fall asleep! That's actually something that sounds good, the chances of him being highly intelligent or creative are higher then ;) If he's not crying or distressed by this I would not worry too much about it.

oh mama, I know its hard not to worry, but its impossible to tell at that young of an age if they have a mental disorder like Bi-polar disorder or even Insomnia. as they go through growth spurts, its very possible for them to not sleep, or even sleep a lot more than normal. he's only 1, don't stress too hard. sounds like he's a very smart boy, with active imagination.

I know I just feel like he is going to have bi polar and that is fine but I hope it dose not develop until adult hood like most people. SO has someone in his family who started showing signs very young

Keeping you both in my thoughts that its just his imagination keeping him awake or a growth spurt, and that he will start sleeping soon!

I wouldn't think he is worrying, nothing to worry about at that age   But I've lain in bed for hours designing new eyeshadows, or jewelery to make or new inventions! From the sounds of his rolling about and humming, he is just thinking about good things, nothing bothersome   Just nurture that creativity as much as possible! A good and fun thing to do is to teach your child basic sign language, it gives them a way to communicate with you before their able to verbally

We have been teaching our LO sign and music. He likes to dance and I find that amazing since he has never seen any dancing.

We are also teaching him the drums and he plays well for a baby!

That is amazing! You are doing everything right, try not to worry too much unless he starts crying all nigh and seems obvious distressed by something   Sounds like you just have a very creative baby in the making

I don’t know if creativity is hereditary? I am retired photographer and his father is a musician, so I wonder if he will get that from us. I guess we will see

I have seen it a lot actually, so I think some types are   That's why in sperm banks they have sections for playing instruments and other creative things in their bios for when you are picking the best juice lol

Our sons have so much in common! N loves to drum on anything and everything and he loves to dance...he bounces to the beat and he also does a happy lil tapdance/stomping in circles when he's excited or eats something he likes
