Preservative and Additive Free

posted 16th Nov
I've having trouble with my 20 month olds behavior, and my Mom suggested changing his diet. She said that she had to take her oldest off all preservatives, all color additives, and off sugars (I'm still trying to get exact details) and that it made a HUGE difference in her behavior.

Has anyone tried this? Do you have any examples of some meals you feel them?

We eat totally 100% vegan and only natural. It has changed all our lives for the better. My LO is now learning and able to concentrate and our health is sooooooooo much better. It's a struggle at first for your body, but only for a week or so.

Well I doubt we'll go vegan. The reason is that I have to be gluten free and am starting to suspect that my son may need to be also. I can't imagine trying to be gluten free AND vegan, haha. WTF would you eat? Fruits and veggies I guess. haha. And beans.

If i feed my kids anything with red dye in it, my kidss are hellions. For me, it was those orange cheese crackers, I was using them as a snack

Seriously!?

How do you manage? I was vegan for about four months before it just became too hard. I've also eaten paleo and honestly think I did MUCH better on that (possibly because of the no gluten thing).

Right now I'm trying to figure out what to feed this kid. He's a horrid eater anyways. His sister LOVES fruits and veggies, but he's so freaking difficult. He wants to eat cheese and bread. And goldfish. That's pretty much it. sigh.

I heard the same thing, red and blue dyes. I am going to look into the same thing for my son. Its hard when he goes to my mother's house, she gives him whatever he wants

Lots of bean soup, letteuce wraps filled with veggies and hummus, vegan pasta and breads. I cook a lot! I make tons of yummy treats, ice creams everything really. Fruits, veggies, and nuts are a huge portion of our diet.

Ack. See, my Mom even said that if her oldest ate something she shouldn't have at someones house my Mom could TELL because she'd get all crazy again. I looked it up and I guess in the 70's (when my Mom had her oldest) it was first being written about this and she saw the diet in a magazine, so I'm still trying to get the details.

But my son is horrible. lol. I love the kid, but I've never dealt with a child so difficult. He screams constantly, can't sit still for anything, he headbutts me, he hits his head on stuff for no reason (just bangs his head). I can't take him anyhwere without him having meltdowns. He's 20 months and has no "real" words to communicate. He can say mama and hi, but he can't ask for anything. He doesn't pay attention to me or seem to understand me when I talk to him. It's horrid.

I figure cutting out these things are healthy even if it doesn't work, but I'm really willing to try anything. I'm so at my wits end with this kid,.

It's really easy once I figured out what I could and couldn't eat. I spent a lot of time researching and honestly it's so simple now. If you are willing to spend about 10-20min longer a day cooking you can do it.
