Hired a lawyer today

So BD and i are still married after being seperated 2 yrs. i went today & talked to a lawyer.

Custody of LO, ex and i have agreed to both of us having joint legal custody & primary physical custody for me.

After i give him the down payment he will send him a letter stating im filing for full custody and child support to be based on his income.

Is this normal for lawyers to do that?

I dont know... Thats why im confused. I went alone i dont have any idea how to do any of this.

Why would he file for full if you agreed on joint? Tell you're lawyer no, it'll cause a worse battle. He works for you

If he files for something other than what you want he's a POS lawyer wanting it to drag out so he's paid more. Fire him and get another.

If you guys agreed on it..wouldnt it be cheaper to file the papers yourself? Can you do that in Arkansas? Here in Cali you can walk in the court house and get the paperwork yourself and by pass the whole laywer crap

Yes it would be cheaper...but neither of us want to go to court.

exactlly..my ex and I filed without a lawyer..So did my good friend. .here you can file for uncontested (spellling) and you never have to walk into a court room. If you guys already agreed on everything. Just be careful..dont the laywer screw you!

I dont think we can do that here with a child involved.

Oh that sucks!  ...seems like many states wont let you do that..Like they think their citizens are jackasses and make them get lawyers ughh..Well just be careful..all your lawyer needed to do is file the papers YOU wanted
