37 weeks & not dilated/thinned

posted 16th Nov
I'm frustrated! I know dilating & thinning is all a "luck of the draw" really because some people will be at a 4 for weeks where others can go from 0-10 in hours.

I was just hoping for SOME sort of progress at this point! But I was checked this morning & am still not dilated or thinned at all   not even a finger tip.

They told me that she weighs 8lbs 4oz at this point & that she is in the 90th percentile. My son was 9lbs 2oz at birth (41 weeks) & he caused my uterus to collapse, I hemorrhaged & almost had to have a hysterectomy   But they also said that they will not induce at 39 weeks unless I am starting to dilate/thin because then you run the risk of an emergency c-section... which I completely understand & do NOT want a c-section anyways.

So I guess my question is...... anyone been at a 0 around this point & still ended up going into labor naturally? Either before their due date or on their due date? They said the latest I'd go is 41 weeks (December 14th) but I'm so afraid she'll be so large that the same thing'll happen again like it did with Landon. Pleaseee don't tell me "baby will come when baby is ready".

I wasnt dialated at that point with my Son, and I was very frusterated also. I had him at 39+5. No contractions or BH untill the day I went into labor. It happens to alot of women, just hang in there hun! Hoping everything goes good for you, and that you can have your LO natural

Really??? Yeah, I haven't had many contractions. It's been a good 3 weeks or so since I've had BH. But the pressure I feel is intense!! That's for sure. lol & thank you.

I have nothing to say because you don't want to hear the truth   which is what you already said ... so I will say this, everything is out of your control, just relax and enjoy what little time you have left!! Every labour and delivery experience is different. All you can do is hope for a healthy happy baby and safe delivery whichever way it happens!

Oh no I'm not relaxed. I'm honestly not looking to have her right now lol She could even come ON her due date if she'd like. I guess I am just disappointed not to hear any progress is going on at all. I have been "trying" lol but it's apparently not working. I was a 2 with my son at this point so I guess that's more so why I'm frustrated.. even though I still went to 41 weeks with him so that was irrelevant anyways.

Yup. I had inconsistant contractions all day, and kept thinking "this is it". At about 11:30pm the contractions were getting farther apart and even more inconsistant. I was really upset, and said screw it, and went to lay down. My DH was rubbing my back, and I was almost asleep, when I felt a tiny pop, and a massive gush. My water broke, and suddenly my contractions were 5 min apart and lasting 30 seconds. By the time I got to the hospital they were 2 min apart and lasting 1 min... Anyways long story short, 20 hours of labor and 3 hours of pushing later, I had my DS. I felt great the whole week before, lots of energy, and had no symptoms of labor. Sometimes it can happen that way.

Even if it doesn't mean anything (like we still go past our due date or whatever happens) it's just nice to HEAR something is happening... lol

Oh wow!! Well maybe that'll be the way it happens with me! I'm just praying for an easier labor experience, at the very least. lol contractions are fine.. pain is fine.. but hemorrhaging & uterus collapsing, no thanks.

I was completely closed and hard until I went into labor, one day before 39 weeks. They estimated him at 7lbs, he was 8lbs 12oz...but I heard of babies being estimated at 10lbs and they come out 7lbs so try not to stress girl.

How bad is the pressure? I remember the pressure being SOOO bad right before he was born. I figured it was just because I was huge and working on my feet right up until I went until labor. But I didn't expect him to be so big lol. I gained 40lbs but I heard that was average weight gain.....

OMG the pressure is horrible. My doc said today that chances are the pressure is going to be worse for me right now than contractions will be.

I was literally just having a few contractions about 20 minutes ago, nothing timeable. But it was accompanied by INTENSE pressure. Shwew... it hurts.

I've gained 30 with her. I gained 55lbs with Landon who was 9.2

The pressure was so much more painful than the contractions. Until the very end of course. Then the contractions had me screaming my lungs out lol.
I went to L&D when I started having regular(but not timeable) contractions since 1. It hurt like hell and I at least wanted to know what was going on down there since I hadn't seen the doctor since 2 weeks before then and 2. I didn't want to go to DH's stupid friend's barbecue lol. Turns out I was in active labor. Try walking around.
