Breastfeeding and vitamins?

DD's pedi was pretty much angry with me at her 4 months check up that I wasn't giving her vitamins since I'm only BFing.
I didn't even know you had to give them vitamin drops???
Is it necessary? If it is, what do I give her?

I've NEVER been told to give DD vitamins. They don't need it, they get everything they need from your breastmilk.

I'm definitely on the search for a new pedi.

DS is still breastfed at 16 months and was only breastfed til around a year and he's never had vitamin drops and no one ever told me he needed them.

He(or she) is probably very uninformed on breast feeding. You do not need to give a breastfed baby vitamin drops.

I think your pedi is silly. Vitamin drops are unnecessary. That said, I do up my vitamin D and C intake during the winter months.  

Actually, they need vitamin D if theyre EBF.

I don't understand why so many people have problems with their pedi's. I've heard many, many stories about horrible pedi's.

No joke. He was disgusted that I was BFing in the waiting room around everyone.
I was wear a camisole tank and a regular shirt over it. so...like nothing was showing.

I am suppose to be giving DD iron supplement but I don't because they didn't check her iron before telling me to give it to her. That is the only thing she has told me I was suppose to be giving to her

Not unless the mom is deficient. And even then, getting LO in the sun daily is just as effective.

Not true. They get vit D from mommy and the sun, you don't need to give it to them.
