Insurance?

posted 16th Nov
Im looking into insurance for future reference.
I noticed a lot of companys don't cover prenatal in their regular plans.
What type of insurance do you have And does prenatal?
If not what type of prenatal insurance do you have and what is the plan structure like?

I've had BCBS, Cigna, and Aetna during my pregnancies. Never had an issue with any of them.

If you are already pregnant most insurance companies will not cover you as it would be considered an existing condition unless it is through employment. If you currently have insurance and are pregnant unless you are beginning a new job or laid off and/or employer is switching companies then they will cover you as long as you can show proof of insure prior to switching. If you are trying to purchase insurance on your own you probably will not be able to get coverage. Good luck and if you find someone that will cover you after being pregnant already please let me know I could use new options. Good Luck

Ill have to check Aenta.
BCBSGA doesnt cover maternity
and my broker at Cigna said that the premium is absolutely ridiculous
bc individual plans don't cover it. He said that I'd be pretty much paying the
same amount if not more than I would having no insurance at all.

I'm not pregnant yet. But we are beginning the process of TTC. It's looking like I am going to have to get an individual plan from a company that covers specifically maternity. I've heard of a few from working at BCBS

False. Pregnancy cannot legally be considered a pre-existing condition according to HIPAA.

EDIT: Googled it, and I see that this may only be for group plans...I thought the Affordable Health Care Act protected against that, but I see that this doesn't take effect until 2014
