re: Help normalize breastfeeding on Facebook

That is her point, not to prove to Facebook she can post whatever she wants but to try and normalize it and get that crazy idea out of peoples heads that its sexual. It isn't gonna be normalized unless people are bold enough to post photo's openly.

Your post made it sound like she was addressing FB as a company when they really have nothing to do with it at all. Calm down. I have nothing against it I even have BFing pictures on my FB and belong to many BFing groups where we all post pictures of us BFing our children. None of them have been taken down or reported. My point was that people get all up in arms because FB banned them FB removed the picture. When really its their own friends or people who had access to the picture who reported it which resulted in the ban. And if she got a 72 hour ban it happened more than once you dont get it from a "first offense". Im all for normalizing it in our society in general but I hate when people or companies are attacked when people dont know who truly is at fault.

Did you read her webpage? She specifically targeted the people who reported it, especially one woman who told her that her kid is the sorta kid that grows up to be a sex offender.

Good for you btw

I think that fine, maybe FB isn't in control of who reports what photos and what photos get removed but maybe they SHOULD start personally reviewing them before they actually ban the person. Like, remove the picture automatically if they have to but don't ban the person until someone sees it and determines it's inappropriate.
From what I think of "normalizing" would be all these things. Addressing the fact that she got banned over a picture of her daughter eating bacon, AND that people shouldn't be reporting pictures like that.

Ugh I never read the comments on The Stir. They're usually ignorant as smurf and I'd get way too worked up lol

I'm happy she wants to fight for normalizing breastfeeding. It's a pretty good cause!!"</blockquote>

that's what I'm getting at.
Why post a picture of your child eating bacon next to your boob?
I see the irony.
I even as the humor in it.
(child chooses bacon over boob)
Funny. Haha.
What I don't see however is the point if it.
If the child was breastfeeding, point noticed.
The child however, was eating bacon.
Why is the boob on the picture?
Either way..its not appropriate for Facebook.
For a parenting site, sure.
Facebook, no.

She's pressing her own opinions into others and anytime anyone does that, its going to backfire in them.

I have nothing against breastfeeding.
Publicly or privately.
The kids gotta eat.

But why post it on Facebook.
Especially on a feminist page on Facebook.

Again, I feel as if her attention seeking is shining through.
Pushing her views into others will bring her a great deal of positive and negative attention.

Anyways, I don't think she should have been banned.
I think this is more of a personal confidentiality issue.

I can see the good cause you are talking about, but some people just want to breastfeed in the comfort of their home.

Not everyone is open about it. Not everyone flashes it around like a trend either..

And I don't see what children breastfeeding has top do with future sex offenders....

I can see a sick smurfer seeing a PC of a two year old being breast fed and getting turned in by it.
But children turning into offenders because they were breastfed? Ha. I think not.

Someone needs to check their statistics.

Overall, she shouldn't have been banned. No one should be offended. But I think its TMI for Facebook.

When did Facebook become such a festering hell of drama smurf?

Facebook should be used for social networking, reconnecting with old friends and family.

Too many people over use Facebook as a diary of sorts.

Those pictures belong on her blog or in a family album.

I think people who have a problem with her just just delete and block her.
Out of sight out of mind.

It is a parenting site on Facebook. The only people who would see it are people who liked her page, or if a friend liked that particular picture.
It's her daughter eating bacon. Her boob is barely even in it. That's less boob than I see in any girl/ womans pictures on FB.
She was showing a cute picture of her daughter eating bacon period. I have pictures of my son eating. There is NOTHING wrong with it and it's not inappropriate in any way!

I added her page and shared the smurf out of it.
I sent her Twitter account some of our BFing pics but I'm sure she has enough. Still wanted to send 'em.
