AMEN!

I DO like Obama (sue me!) but the President is not responsible for every single bad thing that happens in a country during his or her term. I couldn't stand Bush at all, but I was NEVER glad when people lost their homes or their jobs to make him look bad. I never rejoiced in any of his shortcomings.

That's just SICK.

How are they being greedy when they were taking a CUT, not asking for a raise?
The big guys were being greedy.

It's the only way. Either complete collapse of our economic system or total war. There is no other way for a complete overhaul of the Federal Government unless they can stop paying entitlement benefits.

Not this again...

Or stop paying so much on crap. Like new toys for the military, etc..
Even on a state level. They're wanting to build a 1.3 billion dollar transportation system. Meanwhile, our schools are failing and teachers are paying out of their OWN pockets for supplies.
Entitlement is not the problem.

Sorry, I don't agree with wishing the entire middle class into poverty just to get a "third party" (which, sorry, don't seem to be all that much better at the whole politics thing) in office. I'd much rather wish for the problems to be resolved by the person in office NOW so that no one needs to suffer longer or harder!

You're a sick twisted person.

I know here in Cali we keep paying more and more and more in taxes to schools. Nothing is changing. I honestly think the money is getting to them. As a country we pay much into our school systems and that is helping. I know teachers pay out of pocket, I hear about it forem my mom. My thought is schools need to also do fund raising. They dont do much here where I live. If i was a teacher..i would be doing fund raising every year to help my students. I would take it upon myself to get what my students need. Never depend on the Gov!! Thats for sure

Where I'm from, the schools do a lot of fundraising but its just the same ol same ol. They are selling the same crap I was when I was in middle school. They need to keep things fresh and do fundraisers more than just one times a year.

Maybe greed isn't the right term? I just don't see why some pay isn't better than none?

Yeah it was probably inevitable, but at least bring home what you can until you can find new employment.

I've been in, and am in their situation. My husband and I deal with it because we don't have any other options right now. If others in his work protested and wouldn't take the pay cuts and my husband lost his job, I'd be furious and we would be screwed.

It was a cut in the first year and subsequent raises. It was what was needed to save the company.... But they just voted for the unemployment line. The other unions approved the deal but not the bakers.

It won't affect you. They're only closing 3 facilities, not like, doing away with the entire corporation. You'll still get your cakes. It does really suck for all those people being out of a job though.

Hostess Brands Inc. announced today that three company bakery facilities are being permanently shut-down as a result of a strike by the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union. The union, which is a major Obama supporter, held-off a threatened strike until after the election, waiting until Friday to walk-off the job.
Hundreds of jobs will be lost at bakeries in Seattle, St. Louis and Cincinnati.
In a statement, Hostess Brands CEO Gregory F. Rayburn, said:

"Our customers will not be affected because we will continue to serve them from other Hostess Brands bakeries, but sadly this action will result in the permanent closure of three facilities and the loss of 627 jobs. We deeply regret this decision, but we have repeatedly explained that we will close facilities that are no longer able to produce and deliver products because of a work stoppage – and that we will close the entire company if widespread strikes cripple our business.
That hardest part of the decision to close any facility is knowing that it will result in the loss of jobs for those Hostess Brands employees who did not support the strike and who wanted to help revive the Company. They didn't ask for these strikes, but they are paying a terrible price for them."

No. It's been changed and they are closing the whole company.
