I want things to be different.

There are a few things that I want to be different with this baby's birth.
1. I want the cord cutting to be delayed until it stops pulsating.
2. I want to be kept skin to skin for AT LEAST a hour with the baby.
3. I don't mind the cream for the eyes but I dont want any shots to be given.
4. I really wanna try no drugs.
5. My BD & I want to give the baby its first bath
6. I would LOVE a water birth (hospital doesnt do it)


I have been searching for a birth center & the closest one is 2 hours away! Im scared to do a homebirth because I had to have a cesection with my last baby. I dont think the hospital will let me do all these things. I LOVE my doctor. He is amazing. & im gonna bring all this up to him. Maybe he will work out a birth plan with me & we can make sure the nurses know too. Did any of yall have any trouble out of the hospital with what you wanted?

My hospital does skin to skin until the vernix is soaked in. She was on my chest for about 2 hours then we wrapped her up.
They didn't cut the cord for about an hour. She never got her first bath until she was 6 hours old and I helped the nurse.

If you express what you want and you're not high risk, I'm sure your doctor will work with you. The biggest feat is getting a doctor to agree to do a vbac.

My hospital let me do all those thing except delay the cord cutting and the water birth. I also chose after an hour of skin to skin to give shots because I think they are important.

My doctor hates to do csections. He told me with the baby I lost he would for sure let me try.

The vitamin k shot is fine but I dont want any other shots given until after its a year

I wanted skin to skin but had an emergency section and they took him back to the delivery room 5 minutes after he was born I didn't see him for nearly an hour! By that time he was washed, dressed and fed! I'm gutted about that.
I wanted a water birth too but our hospital only had one pool and it was being used!
If I have another I'd want lots of things different.
Although my little boy is 13 weeks now and has two lots of injections already.

This is the first time I have heard someone mention something about the delayed cord cutting.

Can someone explain this to me?
