My child won't drink milk of any kind

posted 16th Nov
So LO and I weaned recently, after 14 months of exclusive breastfeeding. I probably did not do it correctly~ DH and I are going through a split up, and I was going a little crazy there for a while, so my mom kept the LO for a few days, which helped us to wean. So~ I never mixed BM with cows milk to transition her, so she doesn't like cows milk...at all!~
I've also tried rice milk and almond milk. She won't take any kind. She'll take a sip or two if I tell her its juice but after that, she spits it out and throws her sippy on the floor. {Hard too~ like she's mad at it, lol}
Should I just keep trying to give it to her? What should I do?
Help!~
Thanks in advance ;)

Once DD was weaned off bottles, she absolutely refused to drink milk. We supplemented with cheeses and yogurts. She is 6 and still won't drink it, unless it is chocolate milk. She loves cheese and yogurt though, so I make sure she has a lot of those during the day.

hat about goat milk? oat milk? hemp milk? there's so many different kinds, there has to be one she'd take! My son drinks a mixture of oat milk and goat milk because he can't do cow. It tastes awesome.

Have you tried goat's milk? It's the closest thing to human breastmilk.

She will eventually learn to like it [drink it]. Keep offering it at nap times, with meals, anytime she is thirsty. I got DS to drink it by putting a tiny bit of chocolate syrup in it and eventually he didnt even notice there wasnt any in it.

You can keep trying to encourage her to drink it but if she's anything like my son, she's not having it lol. My son was breastfed also and hated milk. He's 2 now and he still doesn't like it unless he's drinking it with cereal. I just had to make sure he was getting his healthy fats, calcium and vitamin D from other foods. He loves cheese, yogurt, salmon, eggs. I drizzle olive oil over a lot of his food for healthy fat.

So with that said, they don't NEED milk. Don't stress yourself.

I have not. And somehow I didn't know that. Thanks. I'll have to go get some and try it. I've actually never tried it, but my favorite food of all time is herbed goat cheese. MMMMMMMMMMMMM

I got her calcium vitamins because I was worried she wasn't getting enough. Should I get her any other vitamins? Even a multivitamin for babies? I went to the natural food store to get her calcium but they surprisingly didn't have a good multivitamin for babies.
I'm just so worried about her health now that she's not drinking her meelk~ But maybe I shouldn't worry so much.

She is able to take the Flintstone gummies. I'm sure they have other children multivitamins out there, those are just the only ones I can think of that are age appropriate.

Is she a good eater?

Right now my son will only drink milk if i mix some toddler formula with it...2 weeks ago he drank milk on its own fine. last week he loved cheerios, this week they are floor decorations....It's a week to week thing with him. lol. I'd just keep trying for a little bit.

She's getting pickier.  Won't really eat veggies very well anymore. She only has four teeth still so I got her the chewables, which she can handle pretty well. I dunno about the gummies but I guess I could look for chewable multivitamins.

Also, goat milk is okay to drink if you are lactose intolerant. They are now saying it is better for you than cow milk and has just as much calcium.

breast milk is really sweet... like sugar water. Try putting a little chocolate or strawberry syrup in it. unless you're anti sugar. It only takes a tiny bit to sweeten it. It's how I got my kids to drink milk... then you can cut back until it's plain milk and use it as a treat. Seriously though.. I put so little that the milk didn't even change colors... but got htem to drink it

Flint stone vitamins are for 2+. My pedi told me not to give vitamins until 2 years, so talk to your doc. He might suggest something.

Chocolate milk might work! Or make a smoothie and put milk in it? My kids are drinking smoothies with milk right now
Strawberries, yogurt, melon, watermelon, cranberries, raspberries, spinach and milk.
Good luck!
