I was on the shot. I've actually never gotten pregnant when I wasn't on BC. My body worked backwards.

That's true too, but think about it this way. Advertisers spend millions of dollars to tell us we're not good enough without their product. After a while it chips away at your psyche. You're poor and you see everyone around you buying "things". You get looked down upon if you don't have as much. But honestly these days most people I know are just trying to survive and have a little food on their plate at the end of the day. Personally my idea of success is being able to afford a modest house, have all my needs met, and be able to live comfortably without being in fear of losing a roof over my head.

I realize that you are tired of this post so i understand if you dont respond as i get "thread fatigue" as well.
BUT, i must say that the operative word in your above statement is "allows." It also allows people to take risks and work really hard and lose it all. It allows poor people to work hard, make the right decisions about their lives and move at least one step or 2 above being as poor as they were. yes, capitalism ALLOWS greed and it allows people to be poor. It isnt perfect but it is the most fair.

Solving the problem of those who appear stuck for generations is a complicated one. I believe the government has helped secure their position in the poorness or poverty and i dont think the government, even with the best intentions can get them out. The government is not willing to help with improving the schools and the government cannot buy parenting skills that have been atrocious for generations. To blame capitalism for well-intentioned social programs is placing the blame in the wrong place.

You said you are 22 and working your ass off and i think you said you are still poor. Most people in their early 20s are working their asses oof too so that they can improve their station in life. That is the way it's supposed to be.

On a final note, i DO believe that most people on assistance want to have a job and be self-sufficient. I also believe that being less comfortable on assistance would help speed the process.

Unfortunately, if we keep going the route we are going, no amount of assistance will salvage our country. The latest press releases about proposed plans for the fiscal cliff are sickening.

Yes, it is sickening. I've been watching it closely and it's worse than I thought it could be.

I'm amazed that our government would even consider giving him so much power with raising the debt ceiling, especially when we have already seen how disastrous that can be. $1.6 trillion in new tax revenues and raising jobless benefits? Maybe it's just me, but I have a hard time following their logic.

Yes, and the media will continue to promote our president and his agenda and make the Rs look bad when they are basically just trying to hold the line and keep things from going deeper in the doo-doo.
