Yeah there were some holdover Airmen when I was in medhold. It seemed they played favorites with them, though. I was disgusted with the way a lot of the med hold (basic) girls were treated. My room was outside the command desk or whatever (forgot what it's called) cuz I had to have first floor housing for a while and I overheard the co's say some very inappropriate things. Like one time they were discussing this one particular girl and airing her personal life and talked about her and said she was a whore. It made me so angry. A lot of the med hold people are there for mental health reasons, too...like depression and anxiety and some even for suicide attempts and they just smurfing treat them like smurf. We had a dude try to commit suicide down the hall because of some smurf an officer said to him.

The governor is the new director but must have approval from the legislature to change anything. The citizens vote on where the money goes.

You know, you can believe in taking care of all people without expecting your government to be the one doing it for you. You giving your money to the government and having them divvy it out is nothing special. On that same token, it is glaringly obvious that our government is not taking care of people. They are not spending our money wisely. So, rather then giving them more of our money, most would rather see them handle it in a better manner. That's not selfish. Why would we want to pump more money into something that simply is not working? Because they promise that with more money it will work? You act like you're some martyr because you believe in helping others, but you can't offer one single way in which your dreamland can actually come to fruition.

You brought up many European countries that are going broke with a quarter of the population we have. Not a good argument. Name one country with our population that has a socialist system that works.

And I'm sorry, but when do we get a CHOICE in where our money goes? Last I checked I never signed off on two wars that murder innocent people and bankrupted our country. How about we stop spending so much smurfing money on our military (which we don't need to spend NEAR as much as we do) and spend it where it needs to go? It's hard as smurf for some people who really need assistance to get it. I was in college, couldn't find a job, and living on my own living off my extra grant money and did not qualify for food stamps because I was in college. How is that fair? While another person and her bf were high school dropouts not working or doing smurf with their lives and getting $200/month EACH for food? It's not readily available to the people who truly need it. Cutting these programs helps NOBODY. Except it helps the greedy people I guess, but that's what we get for being a capitalist society. And I'm pretty sure you are wrong about all of those countries going broke. Socialism doesn't make countries broke. When more people are healthy and able to work that HELPS society. Capitalism is what is funding our government, and has been forever. You can bitch about military spending all you want, but don't forget your president has not pulled out like he promised, nor has he cut spending in the areas that he promised. You want the rich to pay more in taxes but where do you want them to get that money from? Eventually, we will bleed them dry. Capitalism makes the world go 'round, dear. What would you propose we put in place? True, money can be the root of all evil, but where would you be without industry?

Trust me, I get the assistance thing. I was blessed to have very wealthy parents that believed in me doing things on my own. College is still coming out of my pocket. When I had my oldest son, I had to have Medicare because I worked two jobs that didn't offer insurance on top of going to school. Now, I've been walking around on a broken foot for a month (fell in a hole at the air show in Galveston because I'm awesome) and I don't have enough money even with insurance to get it fixed. I've been through all of it. I'd still rather have our government stay out of my body because it is full of inept egomaniacs that would rather argue and divide the country then actually get stuff done.

Do not mistake me; I'm not a republican. Nor am I some right-wing redneck. I'm someone who believes in states rights and limited federal government power.

Capitalism is the reason this country has accomplished so much for so many is such a short time.
