winter babies

My baby is going to be born in Jan. Instead of buying him a infant winter coat what other things did you mothers with babies born in winter use?

The hospital wouldn't let us leave with her wearing a snowsuit, so I would just put her in a long sleeve & then a sweater over it. Then I covered her in blankets & then put the car seat cover over her. lol She also wore a hat.

My first two were born in december and January, they both jut wore thick fleece foodie pajamas most of the time, and I put blankets on them once they were in the carseat. Winter costs have to come off before you buckle them into the carseat and those carseat insert things are not safe either.

My 3rd baby was born on New Years Eve, which is cold and flu season. I honestly didn't bring her out of the house until like the middle of March unless I had to. You're not suppose to use heavy jackets in car seats so I would put her in the carseat before we left the house and put some super warm blankets over her during the walk to the car.

!

we never used the thcik winter things with the kids until they were walking and going out to play in the cold. You can't put them in the carseat anyway... they are a waste of money.

just fleece PJ's... and warm blankets to cover with. and hats@

If you listen to the car seat safety experts, they will tell you anything thicker than a fleece jacket is unsafe under the carseat straps (because it can compress in an accident and baby can be ejected from the seat) so no bunting or heavy coats. For my daughter I will put her in a long sleeves onesies, one piece hevey sleeper, lots of hats, blankets, and long sleeve shirt.

This! And on REALLY cold days I would also put a little pair of long cotton or thermal pants on under the fleece pajamas.

Just make sure you have lots of fleece. Blankets, Jammie's, hats. Etc.

We used a carseat cover with the removable hole for her face. It was thermal.
