PP First Period
posted 16th Nov
I was just wondering if its normal to have a really heavy first period after pregnancy. Im post pregnancy by 6 months. I was pretty lucky to not get a period till now. However its really heavy. Not really soaking through a lot of tampons but every two or three hours my tampon is full to the max. I dont have to pee very often so thats why Im not sure how many tampons I am going through. I am also not feeling like Im leaking till I go to the restroom. I do however have cramps in my stomach regins not in my lower abdomen like normal cramps. Just wondering if any other mommas had this their first pp period or if I should be calling my ob later in the morning. I should also add I recently was put on some meds to help my milk production and not sure if this may be the cause. TIA

My friend just had her baby 2 months ago and got her first pp period. It was really heavy. She would go through big diaper pads every hour her doctor said it was normal because your uterus is still thinning out from having the baby.

My first 2 periods were like mother nature unleashed unholy hell on my uterus. I bleed a lot and the cramps were like labor all over again. I would say its normal. I'm sure it still applies that if you fill a pad in an hour, you need to be seen. After those first 2 they eased up every cycle back to normal. I had my first period 8 months PP and had a c section so im not sure if that contributed to the pain of my cramps. Im still waiting for my first AF after my second baby. Praying she stays away for even longer this time.

My LO is 6 months and I also had a c section so I wasnt sure if it made it a little worse. I hope it goes back to normal soon. And of course it decided it needed to start back up two days before I have to go to a wedding. which is not fun. Ive never had heavy periods so this is all new to me on top of the new mom thing.
